Q1. You are a model, a mother, a woman. How do you change a feeling?

モデルであり、母であり、女性であるTinaさん。どのように自分を切り替えていますか？

A1. An interesting question........Im not sure if i do change my feeling.......I am me all the time. The titles of my roles, in which i fulfill, are more just words to describe what i do, but i think from being able to be yourself all the time, you can really succeed in all of what you do. I guess i do not really feel like i have to do any of them, or that they are "work" or "my job" instead i feel that they are all roles that i have created in my life , of which i all love and enjoy. So really i do not feel separation between my roles of work, motherhood and as a woman, so much, but more as a whole, of what a do, and my passions in life.

切り替えができているかどうかはわからないけど...私は常に自分自身でしかないかな。私が果たしている役割の名前は、私が何をしているかの説明をするための単なる言葉に過ぎないけれど、常に自分自身でいられることで、自分がしていることのすべてにおいて本当に成功することができるのではないかと。私は、どれもやらなければいけないとは思っていないし、「仕事」や「私の仕事」だとも思っていなくて。むしろ、それらはすべて、私が自分の人生の中で作り上げた、私が愛し、楽しんでいる役割だと思っているの。だから、仕事、母性、女性としての役割の間に隔たりを感じることはあまりなく、むしろ全体として、自分が何をしているのか、人生で何に情熱を注いでいるのかを感じているの。

Q2. When did you begin surfing? And what is its charm?

サーフィンをはじめたのはいつ？その魅力は？

A2. My very first wave was actually in Australia, at Bondi Beach, back in 2003. Nobody ever forgets their first wave! But my real journey into surfing began when i was in Japan and started to surf as part of a work project, a TV series i was working on, which involved me exploring Japan whilst learning to surf. From here i began to meet fellow surfers and became friends with people who already surfed, and were kind enough to show me the world of surfing. After gaining the confidence on a surfboard, i began traveling the world and my destinations definitely became focused on finding new waves to surf, whilst discovering so many interesting cultures and countries. That's what i really love about surfing, it has lead me on a path of unbelievable adventure and beauty whilst traveling the world. Meeting so many wonderful people along the way, who are all connected by the ocean. I would say surfers all share a common love for the ocean and a spirit of adventure and travel. It is nice to be surrounded by like minded people, participating in the same activity, exchanging smiles, waves and interesting conversations all at one time. I think the best conversations have happened whilst sitting on my board in the ocean, connecting to the other surfers around me. I have heard so many fascinating stories from all sorts of different people around the world. I also think surfing has a very artistic side to it, almost feeling like a dance or a painting to me when i'm moving on the wave. A form of expression.

私の最初の波は、2003年、オーストラリアのボンダイビーチ。初めての波を忘れる人はいないでしょう。
でも、私のサーフィンへの本当の旅が始まったのは日本に来てから。仕事で制作していたテレビシリーズの一環として、サーフィンを習いながら日本を探索するというもので、既にサーフィンをしている人たちと友達になり、その世界を教えてもらったの。サーフボードに乗る自信がついてからは、世界中を旅するようになって。私の目的は、新しい波を見つけてサーフィンをすること、たくさんの興味深い文化や国を発見することとなったわ。
サーフィンの醍醐味は、世界を旅しながら、信じられないような冒険と美の道へと導いてくれること。 その過程で、海でつながっている多くの素晴らしい人々に出会ったの。サーファーは皆、海への愛と、冒険と旅の精神を共有していると言えるわ。気の合う仲間に囲まれて、同じ活動に参加し、笑顔や波、興味深い会話を一度に交わすことができるのは本当に素晴らしいこと。海の中でボードの上に座って、周りのサーファーたちと心を通わせているときに、最高の会話が生まれたと思う。世界中のさまざまな人たちから、魅力的な話をたくさん聞くことができた。また、サーフィンには芸術的な側面があって、波の上で動いているときは、ダンスや絵画のように感じるの。表現の一形態なのかな。

Q3. What do you think that the charm of the ceramic art? May I see your work?

陶芸の魅力は？もしよかったら作品を見せてください。

A3. Ceramics is very much a new form of expression i decided to take up in the beginning of 2020. I had wanted to do ceramics for a long time before i got the chance to start, but never had the space to do so, living in Tokyo. Once i moved out to Chiba, the timing sort of came to me. During the time of 2020 i found that with the pandemic and not being able to shoot as much as i was used to, more free time opened up to take on another challenge and hobby that i had wanted to do for so long. It turns out that i spent a lot of time in my small town in Chiba and really connected with the community, getting to know my neighbours well, and found that there were some ceramic artists living in my neighbourhood! I connected with a well known Ceramics artist and he offered to teach me the beautiful craft of pottery. I fell in love instantly with the art of Ceramics. It is very challenging and looks a lot easier than it actually is. I continued to learn for several months, leading right up to when we moved to Australia. My plan in the near future is start up an art studio where i can continue to paint, make art, and have a ceramics section to the studio. I would be very happy to share with you some of my works when i have everythings set up and running. For now, i have some shots only of the very beginning stages of me working on small pots, back in Japan. I had to gift all of my friends with my pots and bowls, as i left Japan.....

陶芸は、私が2020年になったら始めようと決めていた新しい表現方法のひとつ。以前からずっとやりたいと思っていたのだけれど、東京に住んでいたので陶芸をするスペースが無かったの。
千葉に引っ越してからは、そのタイミングが巡ってきたという感じ。2020年にはパンデミックが発生し、以前のように撮影ができなくなったことで自由な時間が増え、以前からやりたかった別のチャレンジや趣味に取り組むことができるようになったかな。その結果、私は千葉の小さな町で多くの時間を過ごし、地域社会とのつながりを深めて、近所の人たちとも仲良くなれた。有名な陶芸家と知り合いになり、彼は私に美しい陶芸を教えてくれることになって。私はすぐに陶芸の魅力にとりつかれたわ。とてもチャレンジングで、見るより実際やってみる方がものすごく難しくて。オーストラリアに引っ越すまでの数ヶ月間、ずっと習い続けたの。
近い将来、アートスタジオを立ち上げて、絵を描き、作品を作り続け、スタジオに陶芸のセクションを設けることを計画しているわ。すべての準備が整ったら、私の作品をぜひ皆さんにみてもらいたい。今のところは、日本で小さな鉢を作っていたときの、最初の段階の写真しかないの。日本を離れるときに、友人たちに私のポットやボウルをプレゼントしなければならなかったから.....。

Q4. If you can, where do you want to go on a trip?

今好きなところに旅できるとしたらどこに行きたいですか？

A4. My next destination of travel would be, without a doubt, a trip to see my family. Even writing about it, brings a tear to my eye, about how much i miss i miss my family. I have not seen them for too long now. My family all live in the UK, in the surrounding boroughs (areas) of London. I would love to visit the coast with my family, maybe to a place called Cornwall, where we often used to holiday together when we were a young. I have an older brother and a younger sister and we would spend all day on a beach called Praa sands. I remember that it was a quiet beach at that time and we would body board all day long and i have fond memories of eating picnics on the beach. that would be a dream to do that again with my family.

私の次の旅の目的地は、間違いなく家族のところ。家族に会いたいという気持ちは、書いているだけでも涙が出てくるほど。もうずいぶん長い間、家族に会っていないの。私の家族は皆、英国のロンドン周辺地域に住んでいるわ。家族と一緒に、幼い頃によく一緒に休暇を過ごしたコーンウォールという場所に行きたい。私には兄と妹がいて、Praa sandsというビーチでよく一日中遊んでいたの。当時は静かなビーチだったから、一日中ボディボードをしたり、ビーチでピクニックをしたりしたことを覚えているわ。

Q5. What do you want to do if you come to Japan on the next time?

次回来日するときは何をしたいですか？

A5. The first thing i think i would do is see all of my dear friends. We would most likely have dinner together in a cozy setting and my musician friends would most likely get their instruments out and play away whilst the kids run around. They are my most fond memories in Japan. We would often take it tin turns to rotate hosting a dinner and cooking up a lot of food. Our Families would gather together and play music, eat great food, and for those who loved it, drinking fine wines. I would honestly like to be able to still be involved with photo shootings in Japan when i come back to visit. I have always enjoyed the shooting environment in Japan, working very professionally and respectfully to one another. I do miss working as a model sometimes....but i also love my new life and new version of "work". The other thing i would do is get in the ocean, and maybe take a trip to Miyazaki and see friends and surf.

まず最初にしたいのは、大切な友人たちに会うこと。居心地の良い場所で一緒に食事をして、ミュージシャンの友人たちは子供たちが走り回っている間に楽器を取り出して演奏してくれる。これが日本での最も楽しい思い出。私たちは、よく交代で夕食のホストを務め、たくさんの料理を作ったわ。家族が集まって音楽を演奏し、おいしい料理を食べ、好きな人は美味しいワインを飲んで。
正直なところ、私が日本に戻ってきたときには、まだ日本での撮影に携わりたい。日本の撮影環境は、プロ意識を持ってお互いに敬意を払いながら仕事をしているので、いつも楽しくて。モデルとしての仕事が恋しくなることもありますが....。新しい生活や新しいバージョンの「仕事」も気に入っているの。あとは、海に入ったり、宮崎に行って友達に会ったり、サーフィンをしたりしたいかな。

Q6. What of the MUSE do you like?

MUSE de Deuxième Classeの好きなところはどこですか？

A6. I love the way Muse brings basic items such as t-shirts or blouses and creates a style that looks classy and sleek looking. The materials i would predict ar carefully selected, to allow for the clothing to flow and have beautiful mixed textures to really vamp up your basic items. The carefully selected accessories also really help to make the basic item stand out. I also love how the items are important, but how to wear them and how to style them are key. Nothing seems over-done with too much going on, it is tasteful and well balanced to allow for a flowing, graceful style, which doesn't require too much effort. I guess thats what they call "effortless style". I have always liked the idea of effortless beauty and style. In a natural way.

Tシャツやブラウスといったベーシックなアイテムを、上品で洗練されたスタイルに仕上げるミューズのやり方が好き。厳選された素材を使用しているので、服がしなやかで質感もきれいにミックスされていて、ベーシックなアイテムを引き立てていると思う。厳選されたアクセサリーも、ベーシックなアイテムを際立たせるのに役立っているし。また、アイテムも重要だけれど、それをどのように着こなすか、どのようにスタイリングするかが鍵となる点も気に入っているわ。何もかもがやりすぎではなく、センスが良く、バランスが取れていて、力を抜いた、流れるような優美なスタイルを実現していると思う。いわゆる「エフォートレス・スタイル」ね。私は昔からエフォートレスな美しさやスタイルというものが好き。自然な形で。
