To mark our 20th anniversary,
we bring you the raw, unfiltered vision of Charles Peterson-capturing
Kurt Cobain and the explosive energy of grunge.
This is not nostalgia.
The independent spirit we dreamed of twenty years ago remains unchanged,
and the volume never dropped.
Now, we stand at new beginning. Together, the resonance continues.

CHARLES PETERSON(チャールズ・ピーターソン)

1964年アメリカ・ワシントン州生まれ。

1980年代末から SUB POP RECORDS の非公式のカメラマンとして当時まだ無名だったNIRVANAやMudhoney、Pearl Jamなどが活躍したシアトルのアンダーグラウンドシーンを記録した伝説的フォトグラファー。自身も音楽好きだった同氏は「ALTERNATIVE」「GRUNGE」といった音楽現象の写真を撮り、世界的に知られるようになりました。

音楽のリズムや臨場感を視覚イメージとして表現することに成功した彼のモノクロ写真は、レコードカバーや数々の雑誌に掲載。

リードシンガーの顔写真だけを写すのではなく、観客も含め実際に同じ空間にいるかのような感覚を思わせる作品が象徴的です。

特にNIRVANAの写真はあまりにも有名で、その音と共に世界に発信されています。
