Continuing from the previous 3rd Collection, this chapter revisits Black Mountain College—a legendary liberal arts school where experimentation, freedom, and creative dialogue shaped the course of 20th-century art.
This second installment draws inspiration from the quiet radicalism of avant-garde composer and mycologist John Cage, guided by Eastern philosophy; the raw, gestural energy of abstract expressionist Willem de Kooning; the visionary structures of architect Buckminster Fuller; and the layered collages of Robert Rauschenberg, a pioneer of Pop Art.
Their philosophies and cross-disciplinary approaches are translated into garments through texture, structure, and layering—reconstructing ideas into form, and expressing experimentation as contemporary dress.

(Society) (Original): “We are not going to be able to operate our Spaceship Earth successfully nor for much longer unless we see it as a whole spaceship and our fate as common. It has to be everybody or nobody.”
Fuller likened the Earth to “Spaceship Earth,” arguing that all of humanity, as its crew, shares a common destiny. His words warn that unless the world learns to cooperate beyond national borders and conflicting interests, we will not be able to sustain this planet.
With the striking phrase “everybody or nobody,” he stresses the necessity of collective action for our survival. This idea reflects Fuller’s belief that humanity must strive for a society in which 100 percent of people can thrive, regardless of wealth, nationality, or background.
